I have struggled with anxiety, worry, rumination, and obsessive thoughts as long as I can remember. I have been diagnosed by different practitioners with Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I spent so much time reading about mental illness, I decided to get a Masters degree in Counseling and spent 3 years working in Community Mental Health.
Everyday is a struggle with my brain, attempting to decipher what thoughts are my OCD and what thoughts are “intuition.” I’ve seen three different counselors, taken almost every SSRI and SNRI, and am currently delving into Mindfulness and Meditation in various forms including yoga. Bikram yoga is my current “obsession.”
I hope this blog will help me come to an acceptance of myself, and in doing that maybe I will help someone else.
